Job summary

Richland County is seeking an Equipment Operator I for the PW Roads and Drainage Maintenance Shop to operate a range of heavy machinery including dump trucks, excavators, dozers, and loaders. You will monitor equipment, perform daily inspections, assist with road and concrete construction, and help with debris removal while ensuring safety and compliance.

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid Class A CDL or ability to obtain within six months, and proficiency with Microsoft

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.
One year of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must possess a valid state Class A commercial driver's license or be able to obtain within six months of hire.
Ability to operate a variety of heavy machinery and perform routine inspections and maintenance.

Responsibilities

Operate heavy machinery including dump trucks, excavators, dozers, loaders, and trenchers.
Assist with road and concrete construction and maintenance tasks.
Dig ditches and install underground utilities as needed.
Perform daily inspections and preventive maintenance on equipment.
Deliver materials and assist with debris removal at various sites.
Maintain safety standards and comply with county procedures.
