Job summary

The City of Indianapolis, Department of Public Works (DPW) seeks a skilled supervisor for the Bridges, Drainage and Roadway Maint. This role oversees personnel and equipment in a sub-district, enforcing maintenance policies and directing crew daily to ensure quality work and timely completion.

You will report to the Superintendent, develop progress reports, coordinate with other city teams, and address hazards, repairs and winter operations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent with four years' crew experience or two years' supervisory experience over six or more employees.
• Ability to delegate authority and communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Knowledge of road and street maintenance rules, regulations and standards; basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Patrol specified area checking for surface conditions and investigating complaints.
• Plans routes, assigns duties, and reviews the work of his crew daily.
• Verifies completion of each project and maintains area within budget.
• Directs supervision of staff and ensures adherence to policies and safety rules.
• Prepares progress reports daily/weekly and coordinates with the Superintendent.
