Job summary

The City of Lubbock seeks a skilled public works professional to supervise a small crew and assist the foreman in planning and completing a wide range of construction and maintenance projects. You will estimate materials, manpower, and equipment needs, and support street maintenance with equipment like salt spreaders in icy weather.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent with 3 years in public works, a valid CDL, and the ability to obtain water license and Wastewater II

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 3 years of public works construction/maintenance experience, or equivalent education/experience.
• Physical exam required.
• Valid current Commercial Driver's License.
• Pipeline Maintenance: ability to obtain Class C Water license and Wastewater II distribution license within 3 years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a small work crew and assist foreman in planning work; maintain time cards.
• Estimate materials, manpower, and equipment needs for projects.
• Assist with street maintenance activities and operate salt spreaders during icy weather.
• Maintain equipment and ensure proper tools are brought to each job.
• Operate trucks, street sweepers, front end loaders, crackseal machines, or distributors; assist with traffic control setup.
• Assist in employee selection, evaluation, and disciplinary activities.
• Perform related duties as directed.
