Job summary

The City of Stafford, TX is seeking a Public Works Construction/Maintenance worker to support street and sidewalk projects. Responsibilities include planning material needs, supervising field crews, and ensuring safety and quality during pavement and concrete work.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, a Texas driver’s license, and preferably a Class B CDL or the ability to obtain one within six months. This full-time role requires physical work and occasional emergency overtime.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with coursework and 5 years of relevant experience preferred
• Valid Texas Driver's License required
• CDL Class B or ability to obtain within six months of hire

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning by gathering materials, equipment and personnel needed to complete assignments.
• Monitor work progress at sites and redirect crews to meet critical requirements.
• Ensure procedures are followed and service quality is maintained.
• Maintain and operate vehicles and equipment assigned to the team.
• Perform inspections of contracted pavement work.
• Lead crew in construction, demolition, and maintenance of streets, sidewalks, and related structures; assign tasks and enforce safety rules.
• Provide training and support to crew members as needed.
• Assist with concrete base preparation including forming, reinforcing, pouring, finishing, and cleanup.
• Contribute to department success by performing other essential duties as assigned.
• Promote an inclusive work environment and respect for diverse backgrounds.
• Subject to 24-hour recall; may be required to work overtime during emergencies.
