Job summary

City of Lubbock is seeking a supervisory technician for airfield maintenance and operations. You will lead the crew, schedule work around the municipal airfield, monitor runway conditions in bad weather, and ensure FAA standards are met across facilities including runways, lighting, and gates.

The role requires a high school diploma and 1–2 years in airfield maintenance with supervisory experience; CDL is preferred but not required. Physical work and driving responsibilities are involved.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One to two years in airfield maintenance with supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with scheduling assigned work on and around the airfield.
  • Instruct, train and oversee crew in maintenance of airport facilities and grounds.
  • Assist in monitoring runway conditions during inclement weather to keep the airport operational.
  • Work with crew; monitor, inspect and approve crew work output.
  • Provide informal assessment of crew performance to supervisor.
  • Review crew work for conformance to FAA standards; oversee facilities and navigation aids.
  • Guide and oversee contractors; monitor QA/QC efforts.
  • Assist with purchasing and monitor department budgets; process accounts payable and requisitions.
  • Assist in preparing work injury forms and payroll in supervisor's absence.
