Job summary

The City of Dubuque, IA is seeking an Equipment Operator to operate medium and heavy equipment in public works and park maintenance under the Field Operations Manager. You will perform skilled and semi-skilled tasks in construction and facility upkeep while potentially supervising others.

Responsibilities include operating diverse equipment, performing repairs, and ensuring safety. Snow and ice control are integral, with on-call hours possible during winter and emergencies.

Qualifications

• Three years of experience operating light through heavy equipment.
• Two years in asphalt or concrete maintenance and repairs.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Class A CDL with air brakes, combination, and tanker endorsements.
• At least 6 months of data entry or computer usage experience.

Responsibilities

• Operates a wide range of equipment including roller, backhoe/loader, excavator, loader, street sweeper, and more.
• Repairs or replaces curbs, concrete and asphalt surfaces, walls, and steps.
• Transports resources and materials to worksites as needed.
• Responds to inquiries in a professional and courteous manner.
• Performs snow and ice control operations and supports other departments as needed.
• Maintains safety protocols on and off job sites, and keeps records.
