Job summary

The City of Denison is seeking a skilled equipment operator in the Public Works Division to drive and operate trucks and specialized machinery, and perform routine maintenance.

You will work largely within city limits, follow established procedures, train lower level personnel, and may supervise others as needed. This position requires a high school diploma or GED and a valid commercial driver's license, with a willingness to work evenings or weekends when required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid commercial operator’s license (CDL) required.
• Six months of driving trucks or operating light equipment, or equivalent education/experience.
• Ability to follow simple oral and written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Drives and operates specialized equipment used in the Division.
• Independently performs assigned work within City limits.
• Performs basic maintenance and servicing of equipment.
• Provides on-the-job training to lower level personnel.
• May supervise other employees and crew members.
• Adheres to established procedures and deadlines, with supervisor guidance as needed.
