Job summary

The City of Maypearl seeks a Heavy Equipment Operator to support water, wastewater, and drainage projects. You will operate heavy utility construction equipment, perform preventative maintenance, and assist crew with manual tasks.

You will also direct traffic, participate in street repairs, document work, and ensure site safety while maintaining vehicles. Supervisory duties may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications

• Two or more years operating and servicing heavy duty construction equipment.
• Valid Texas Class A CDL with tanker endorsement is required.
• Experience performing preventative maintenance on heavy equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy utility construction equipment to install and repair water, wastewater, and storm drain lines.
• Prepare machinery, perform routine maintenance, and repair equipment as necessary.
• Direct traffic and ensure worksite safety; assist with street repairs and manual tasks.
• Maintain vehicles, document work completed, and interface with City employees and citizens.
• Provide direction to other employees when needed.

Job description

The purpose of this position is to operate heavy equipment and machinery to assist in the installation and repair of the City's water, wastewater, and storm drain lines. This is accomplished by preparing machinery and equipment for use, operating heavy utility construction equipment, performing preventative maintenance on equipment, repairing equipment as necessary, ensuring safety of public and assisting crew with manual tasks. Other duties may include directing traffic, ensuring worksite and work crew safety, assisting with street repairs, operating street equipment, maintaining vehicles, documenting work completed, and interfacing with other City employees and citizens. This position does provide direction to other employees.

What We're Looking For

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Two years of experience in operating and servicing heavy duty construction equipment and related equipment.
• Valid Texas Class A CDL with tanker endorsement.

Typical Work Schedule: Monday through Thursday 7:00 am to 5:30 pm.
