Job summary

The City of South Milwaukee is seeking energetic and reliable individuals to contribute to the community's safety and beauty by performing outdoor labor, equipment operation, and maintenance tasks. This Equipment Operator I role involves snow plowing, road and sidewalk repairs, tree work, and assisting other departments as needed.

Under supervision, you will operate a variety of city vehicles and heavy equipment, conduct basic maintenance, and support emergency response efforts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years of recent construction or commercial driving experience.
• Valid Wisconsin driver's license required.
• Must obtain CDL with Tank Vehicle Endorsement within three months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Operate trucks and heavy equipment owned by the city.
• Perform routine inspections and maintenance on equipment.
• Assist with snow plowing and road/sidewalk repairs.
• Perform general labor and building maintenance tasks as needed.
• Respond to emergencies and after-hours assignments.
