Job summary

The City of Waukesha is seeking a semi-skilled worker for operation and light maintenance of automotive equipment in public works projects. Salary starts at $51,126.12 with a typical schedule Monday–Friday, 7am–3:30pm, plus peak season snow removal hours, weekends, and overnight shifts.

Essential duties include operating trucks, performing landscape and sidewalk maintenance, sewer and street maintenance, and traffic signal/light installations.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.
• 1-3 years of experience in public works construction and operation of construction equipment.
• Valid Wisconsin driver's license; CDL with A, B, C, D endorsements (N preferred or obtained within 6 months of hire).
• Ability to report for emergencies off hours, including weekends and overnight hours.
• Must be able to pass pre-employment physical, drug and alcohol screening.

Responsibilities

• Operates several sizes of trucks.
• Performs landscape terracing and sidewalk maintenance.
• Assists in sewer maintenance, cleaning and/or building.
• Assists in street sweeping, cleaning, maintenance and repairs.
• Installs and maintains traffic signals, street lighting and directional signs.
• May perform fleet maintenance; parts lookup, purchasing, and recordkeeping.
