Job summary

The City of Columbus, NE is seeking a full-time Equipment Operator to maintain streets, alleys, bridges, storm sewers, culverts and right-of-way areas. This semiskilled position requires operating trucks, tractors and related light to moderately heavy equipment under the Streets Supervisor.

Responsibilities include repairing surfaces, trimming vegetation, and supporting the Waste Transfer Station as needed; candidates must have CDL within 3 months and be prepared for varied weather and heavy

Qualifications

• Experience operating moderately heavy trucks and related automotive equipment.
• Knowledge of concrete work.
• Skills in the use of hand tools used in the maintenance of equipment.
• Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods, often under adverse weather conditions.
• Must maintain a Commercial driver’s license within first 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Repairs street and highway surfaces
• Trims and remove trees, bushes and weeds
• Assist with the operations of the City’s Waste Transfer Station as needed
