Job summary

Columbus Consolidated Government is seeking a city maintenance worker to operate equipment and perform routine beautification of city property. The role involves driving tractors, stump grinders, dixie choppers, and chain saws, watering and staking trees, pruning planted trees, and maintaining greenspaces along assigned routes.

Responsibilities include mowing, tree planting, and supporting emergency communications while using a radio.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of the layout of the city and service area.
• Knowledge of tree pruning practices and safety considerations.
• Ability to read, write and perform basic math calculations.

Responsibilities

• Operates tractors, stump grinders, dixie choppers, and chain saws to maintain and beautify city property.
• Waters trees along assigned routes and stakes trees.
• Prunes freshly planted trees; plants trees and mows grass.
• Drives a truck with a water wagon attached; assists with 911 calls.
• Operates a two-way radio to send and receive messages; performs supervisory duties in the absence of a supervisor.
