Job summary

City of Detroit is seeking an Engineering Services Coordinator to lead engineering groups involved in road and bridge construction and planning. The role focuses on strategic planning, adherence to federal, state, and local policies, and managing scopes, budgets, and schedules for major projects.

The position requires coordinating with staff engineers, supervising subordinates, and ensuring conformance with MDOT protocols, while representing the department at meetings and public presentations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field.
• Five (5) years of experience in road and bridge construction engineering activities.
• Three (3) years experience supervising staff engaged in such work.
• Must be a registered professional engineer in the State of Michigan.
• Valid State of Michigan Operator License required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with staff engineers to ensure project file coordination per MDOT protocols.
• Oversee planning and implementation of capital improvement projects.
• Manage budgeting, schedules and payments for capital projects.
• Review and approve plans, specifications, and permits for road and bridge work.
• Direct staff engaged in control of project files and related departmental programs.
