Job summary

The City of Abilene, Texas, is seeking an entry-level Engineer I/II to contribute to the design and construction of public works and utility projects under supervision of a Professional Engineer.

Responsibilities include developing project plans, specs, estimates, reviewing plans for compliance, and assisting with field investigations. A Bachelor's degree in engineering is required; EIT preferred and Texas driver’s license is required or soon.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• EIT preferred; Texas Driver’s License required or ability to obtain within 90 days.
• Understanding of public works and utilities design and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Develop project plans, specifications, and estimates for public works and utilities.
• Review plans submitted by consultants and others for compliance with city rules and design standards.
• Inspect workmanship and materials per plans, specs, and city requirements.
• Assist with field investigations, mapping, data collection, and feasibility reports.
