Job summary

City of Abilene's Engineering Division seeks an entry-level Engineer-In-Training to support the design and construction of public works and utilities projects under supervision. The role requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering (ABET-accredited); EIT preferred; a Texas driver’s license within 90 days; proficiency with AutoCAD and GIS is desirable; strong communication and teamwork skills are essential.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program is required.
Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certificate is preferred.
Texas Driver’s License required within 90 days of hire.
Proficiency with AutoCAD and GIS is desirable.
Strong written and verbal communication, and ability to work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

Develop engineering project plans, specifications, and estimates.
Review and interpret engineering plans and submissions for compliance with City, state, and federal regulations.
Assist in designing and drafting public works and utility projects.
Coordinate with consultants, surveyors, and other stakeholders.
Inspect construction workmanship to ensure conformance with plans and standards.
Prepare feasibility studies and reports for new or modified services.
