Job summary

Halff Associates, Inc. is seeking a Director of Public Works in Jacksonville, FL to lead our Public Works practice and mentor multiple teams.

The role centers on building a strong municipal client base, pursuing opportunities, and delivering complex design projects across utilities and roadways. The position emphasizes leadership, client relationship management, and high-quality proposal development, with responsibilities for strategic growth, staff development, and cross-office collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (ABET-accredited) or equivalent.
• P.E. license in Florida or transferable within 3 months preferred.
• 10+ years in public works utilities and roadway design.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a robust network of municipal clients and teaming partners.
• Identify projects in the region and initiate strategy for awarding new design contracts.
• Produce winning project proposals as lead professional/PM.
• Develop and review project scopes and professional fees.
• Supervise direct reports (Team Leaders) and mentor staff.
• Oversee large-scale, multi-discipline projects and cross-office collaboration.
• Drive sales growth and monitor financial performance.
