Job summary

The Village of South Holland’s Public Works, Roads & Right-of-Way Division is seeking a skilled crew leader to supervise on-site construction, demolition, installation and repair of street and right-of-way assets.

Under direction of the Public Works Director or Superintendent, you will plan, organize and assign work, ensure crews have the necessary tools and follow safety procedures, and coordinate with property owners while addressing public complaints.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent is required.
• Five (5) years’ experience in municipal water, sewer, stormwater, street or park construction and maintenance or similar construction experience.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license.
• Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License; maintain that license and endorsements throughout employment.

Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes, assigns and supervises on-site work of crew members on street and right-of-way projects.
• Coordinates work with property owners and public regarding projects and complaints.
• Leads crew on assigned projects and events, ensuring safety procedures are followed and proper tools/equipment are available.

DEPARTMENT: Public Works , Roads & Right-of-Way Division

WAGE: $32.83 per hour

Position Summary :

Under the general direction of the Director of Public Works or Public Works Super intendent , an employee in this class performs a variety of skilled work as a member of a crew or an individual engaged in the construction, demolition, installation, and repair of Village Assets. An employee in this class plans, organizes, assigns , and supervises the on-site work of crew members assigned to the construction, demolition, installation, and repair of street s, as well as to public right-of-way maintenance . Work includes planning on-site work, maintenance , and emergency needs; ensuring the crew has proper tools and equipment; and ensuring the crew follows safety procedures. Employee coordinates work with property owners, answers and resolves public complaints, and serves as crew leader on assigned projects and events.

Requirements:

• High school diploma/GED equivalent is required (Two-year Associate's degree in relevant field, preferred),
• Five (5) years’ experience in municipal water, sewer, stormwater, street , or park construction and maintenance , or other similar construction experience;
• High school dip loma/GED equivalent is required,
• Possession of a valid driver’s license,
• Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License,
• Maintain that License and Endorsements without interruption throughout their employment with the Village.
