Job summary

The Village of South Holland, Illinois, is seeking a Landscape Professional with its Public Works Department. The position will perform skilled landscape installation and maintenance around public property, municipal buildings, and parks.

Under direction, you will handle hardscape work, planting, mowing, and seasonal planting with emphasis on plant health and safety. A valid driver’s license and background/drug screening are required.

Qualifications

• Experience in urban forestry, arboriculture, and horticulture, or hardscape.
• Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
• Maintain a valid driver's license
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
• Knowledge of the use of hand tools, ability to lift 50 pounds
• Ability to carry out oral and written instructions with minimum supervision

Public Works- Landscape Professional Worker I or II

The Village of South Holland, Illinois, a leading suburb located 25 miles south of downtown Chicago with a population of approximately 22,000, is seeking a Landscape Professional with its Public Works Department.

DEPARTMENT:Public Works

STARTING HOURLY RATE: $2 6.26 to $31.17 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience

Under specific direction, qualified workers will perform skilled assigned duties involved in the general landscape installation and maintenance, upkeep , and seasonal planting around public property, municipal buildings, and parks . Specific areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:

• Hardscape installation, m aintenance , and restoration, working with stone and block


• Monitoring and maintaining plant health


• Weeding and mulching landscape beds


• Trimming and removing small trees, hedges , and shrubs


• Planting shrubs, flowers , and trees


• Watering gardens, lawns , and landscapes


• L andscape clean-up and planting bed maintenance


• Mowing, edging , and fertilizing lawns ,

REQUIREMENTS:

• Must have experience in urban forestry, arboriculture , and horticulture , or hardscape


• Must be a minimum of 1 8 years of age


• Maintain a valid driver's license

• Ability to carry out oral and written instructions with minimum supervision
