Job summary

EmergencyMD is seeking a Crewleader II in the Street Department to lead a team engaged in street maintenance, repair, and construction. You will coordinate crew assignments, ensure work quality, and promote safety and teamwork within the department.

This essential service role requires leadership, hands-on involvement, and ability to respond to weather-related and ROW emergencies while maintaining accurate records and reporting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• 3+ years experience in street maintenance, construction, or related field with leadership preferred.
• A Valid Driver's License Class C and clean driving record are required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct a crew of workers in street maintenance, repair, and construction tasks.
• Plan daily work assignments, schedules, and priorities.
• Coordinate with departmental supervisors and staff for effective communication across crews.
• Monitor progress and productivity; implement improvements to meet goals.
• Train new crew members on proper methods, safety procedures, and equipment operation.
• Perform hands-on work as needed to meet project deadlines.
• Enforce safety protocols, PPE usage, and traffic control measures.
• Maintain records of hours, materials, equipment and progress.
• Provide feedback to supervisors on performance and equipment needs.
• Respond to weather-related and ROW emergencies.
• Other duties as assigned.

DESCRIPTION

The Crew Leader II in the Street Department is responsible for leading a team of workers engaged in street maintenance, repair, and construction activities. This position plays a critical role in coordinating crew assignments, ensuring work quality and efficiency, and promoting a culture of safety and teamwork within the department.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Previous experience (3+ years) in street maintenance, construction, or a related field is required, with demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience preferred, or any combination of training and experience leading to the described level of knowledge and skills.
• A Valid Driver's License Class C is required at the time of placement and a clean driving record.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Knowledge of street maintenance techniques, equipment, and materials used in construction and repair activities.
• Skill in interpersonal communication, with the ability to interact professionally with crew members, supervisors, contractors, and members of the public
• Ability to effectively lead and motivate a team of workers, fostering a culture of safety, productivity, and teamwork.
• Ability to perform physical tasks in various weather conditions and environments.

MAJOR DUTIES

• Supervise and direct a crew of workers engaged in street maintenance, repair, and construction tasks, providing guidance, instruction, and support as needed to ensure work quality and efficiency.
• Plan and organize daily work assignments, schedules, and priorities for crew members, taking into account project requirements, resource availability, and deadlines.
• Coordinate with departmental supervisors, managers, and other staff to ensure effective communication and collaboration across crews and divisions.
• Monitor work progress and productivity, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing corrective actions as necessary to achieve project goals and objectives.
• Train new crew members on proper work methods, safety procedures, and equipment operation, ensuring compliance with departmental policies and regulations.
• Perform hands-on work alongside crew members as needed to complete assigned tasks and meet project deadlines.
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols, procedures, and regulations to maintain a safe working environment for crew members and the public, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to traffic control measures.
• Maintain accurate records, documentation, and reporting related to crew activities, including work hours, materials usage, equipment maintenance, and project progress.
• Provide input and feedback to departmental supervisors on crew performance, training needs, equipment requirements, and other relevant issues.
• Respond to all types of weather-related and ROW emergencies.
• Other duties as assigned.

This position is an essential service position and will require providing services during emergency situations.
