Job summary

The City of Lake Oswego is seeking a Construction Inspector to join the Engineering/Public Works team. You will inspect public improvement projects, ensure compliance with plans, and coordinate with contractors and city staff throughout project lifecycles.

You will maintain detailed records, monitor testing, assist with payments and change orders, and serve as a primary contact for diverse stakeholders while upholding high ethics and professional standards.

Qualifications

• Eight years of directly related work experience in public utilities or street construction, or equivalent education/experience in engineering, construction management and/or surveying and construction inspection.
• Proficient with spreadsheet and word processing; good writing and public relations skills.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Inspect public improvement construction projects for compliance with plans, specs, City and industry standards.
• Maintain project records, write daily reports, take photos, and track pay item quantities.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers and contractors; respond to complaints and public inquiries.
• Monitor schedules, safety, traffic control plans, and survey work; assist with change orders and monthly payments.
• Provide documentation for archival transfer and assist with project planning and design as needed.
