Job summary

The Oviedo Recreation & Parks department seeks a Public Works Construction Coordinator to oversee city construction projects, manage contracts, and coordinate teams to meet timelines and budget. You will ensure compliance with plans and safety standards and communicate updates to residents and city leadership.

Responsibilities include budget oversight, contract administration, pre-construction meetings, and collaboration with inspectors.

Qualifications

• Associate degree and 2+ years in engineering, inspection, or construction.
• Must have valid Florida driver’s license within 30 days of employment.
• Current MOT certification or ability to obtain within 90 days.
• Completion of relevant FDOT courses within six months as determined.

Responsibilities

• Oversee complex public works construction projects to ensure timelines and standards.
• Lead contract administration with contractors, consultants, and suppliers.
• Monitor budgets, review pay applications, and track project closeouts.
• Coordinate pre-construction and progress meetings with teams.
• Interface with residents and stakeholders; prepare notices and updates.
• Work with inspectors to ensure safety and quality per OSHA rules.
• Prepare weekly progress reports and maintain project records.
• Manage contractor RFI, shop drawings, and submittals.
• Respond to complaints and investigate issues with contractors.
