Job summary

City of Portland is seeking a Supervisor II to lead a team of inspectors enforcing public works codes and municipal contracts, ensuring quality, safety, and timely delivery on CIP, LID, FOS and permit projects at 810 N Graham St.

The role emphasizes mentoring, data‑driven performance, budget management, and collaboration with internal and external partners to achieve durable, safe transportation infrastructure for the City.

Qualifications

• Experience leading and mentoring inspectors on complex public works projects.
• Ability to manage safety, quality, and regulatory compliance across CIP, LID, FOS and permit programs.
• Strong communication skills with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
• Demonstrated problem solving and continuous improvement mindset.
• Ability to develop performance metrics and manage budgets.

Responsibilities

• Provide lead direction, mentoring, training, and problem solving for inspectors and senior inspectors.
• Plan, organize, manage, and optimize staff workload for maintenance and repair programs.
• Develop divisional performance measures and monitor outcomes with data-driven reporting.
• Establish standards and best practices; monitor program performance against goals.
• Develop annual work plans, allocate resources, and manage budgets for related programs.
• Collaborate with internal and external partners to achieve best outcomes for the City.
• Oversee procurement of equipment, parts, and supplies to support operations.
• Support a culture of safety, organizational excellence, and professionalism.
• Apply continuous improvement in daily work and long-range planning.
