Job summary

City of Janesville is seeking a dedicated Public Works Operations worker to perform a range of manual labor tasks supporting waste collection, street and stormwater infrastructure maintenance, and winter weather operations.

Responsibilities include operating a variety of city vehicles, performing equipment maintenance, and assisting with concrete and pavement projects. A Class B CDL or the ability to obtain within one year is required.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Possession of a valid state-issued Class “B” Commercial Driver’s License, or ability to obtain within one year of hire.
• Minimum one year experience in equipment operation, general construction, or applicable trade.
• A valid, state-issued driver’s license at time of hire is required.

Responsibilities

• Collects trash, recyclables, and yard waste using automated/manual collection vehicles.
• Safely operates City vehicles including dump trucks with snow plows and salt applicators, pickups, and loaders.
• Performs daily maintenance checks on equipment and cleans vehicles.
• Assists in street construction/maintenance, curb and storm water work, and concrete related tasks.
• Operates traffic line striping and signage work with various equipment.
