City of Bay City is hiring a Full Time Engineering Technician in the Public Works - Engineering division. The role supports construction inspection, project coordination and design tasks for the City's Capital Improvement Program and Transportation Asset Management Plan.

Responsibilities include field inspections, coordinating with consultants and contractors, elementary civil design, GIS data work, and budgeting support.

Qualifications

• Drafting techniques, CAD knowledge and civil design support.
• Construction project inspection and testing experience preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and specs.
• Experience with surveying notes and field data collection.
• Driver's license with good driving record.

Responsabilités

• Performs inspection on construction projects including site layout, quantity measurements, materials testing, project scheduling, progress tracking, quality determination, inspection reports, shop drawing reviews and pay estimates.
• Coordinates with consultants, utility companies, stakeholders and contractors to manage projects and conduct pre-construction and construction progress meetings.
• Performs elementary civil engineering design related to public works infrastructure using survey data, field assessments, and CAD; participates in design reviews and submittal preparation.
• Assists in gathering and updating GIS information and mapping.
• Assists in planning, budgeting and reporting of project activities.
• Maintains communication with citizens, consultants, contractors and stakeholders regarding CIP, property concerns, progress and standard practices.
• Assists in special studies: traffic counts, asset management and GIS field mapping.
• Performs duties to receive, evaluate, inspect, and process permits for Engineering Services.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
