Job summary

Talbot County Government is seeking an Assistant County Engineer who will report to the County Engineer and oversee code enforcement issues while managing capital projects linked to wastewater systems, roads, bridges, drainage, and stormwater. The successful candidate should have an Engineering Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience, with the ability to obtain a Maryland PE license within 12

Qualifications

• Engineering Bachelor’s Degree with civil, environmental, sanitary, hydraulic, or structural focus.
• 5+ years of engineering experience and Maryland PE license or eligible within 12 months.
• Knowledge of drafting, surveying, design and construction management principles.
• Ability to conduct field surveys and produce accurate drawings from data.

Responsibilities

• Oversees code enforcement issues and manages capital projects for wastewater, roads, bridges, drainage and stormwater.
• Acts as project manager for the Capital Improvement Program and coordinates grant funding requests.
• Inspects construction for contract compliance and maintains relationships with public officials and the public.
• Interim County Engineer as needed and other related duties.
