Job summary

Talbot County Maryland in Easton, MD is seeking an Assistant County Engineer who will report to the County Engineer and oversee capital projects for wastewater systems, roads, bridges, drainage and stormwater management, while ensuring compliance with local, state and federal permitting and funding requirements.

The role requires a 5+ year engineering background, Maryland PE or eligibility within 12 months, and proficiency in drafting, surveying, AutoCAD and GIS.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited college/university.
• 5+ years of engineering experience.
• Maryland Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain within 12 months.
• Knowledge of drafting, surveying, and engineering design principles.
• Ability to supervise staff and coordinate capital projects.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Capital Improvement Program projects and grant administration.
• Secure funding and prepare CIP requests.
• Perform design activities, engineering computations and cost estimates.
• Inspect CIP projects for compliance with contract documents.
• Coordinate legislated Public Works programs and supervise staff.
• Act as Interim County Engineer when needed.
