Job summary

Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District (NICTD), operator of the South Shore Line, is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer in Michigan City, IN. The CFO leads the District's financial operations, ensures integrity and transparency, and aligns resources with safe rail service.

This role oversees budgeting, accounting, grants, and system modernization to support 24/7 public transportation reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, public administration, or a closely related field.
• Substantial public agency or transportation sector finance experience preferred.
• Experience with governmental accounting, GAAP and GASB standards, and multi-year forecasting.

Responsibilities

• Serve as principal financial advisor to the President, General Manager, and Board.
• Lead the transition to formal annual operating and capital budgets with multi-year forecasts.
• Modernize financial systems, data, workflows, and management reporting.
• Manage compliance, audit, treasury, debt, payroll, procurement, and internal controls.
• Oversee capital program integration, grants, and debt management.
