Job summary

Wauconda Area Public Library in Illinois is seeking a friendly, empathetic individual to join our front desk and public-facing team. You will greet patrons, answer questions, process transactions, and support library operations with accuracy and courtesy.

This role emphasizes attention to detail, the ability to work independently and within a fast-paced team, and a commitment to providing excellent service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years’ service-related work; library experience preferred.
• Must read 9-point font.
• Regularly required to talk, hear and see.
• Frequently required to sit, stand, walk and reach with hands and arms.
• Occasionally lift, push or move up to 50 pounds.
• Requires working outdoors for duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Provide friendly and professional customer service on the telephone, in person, and when using electronic communication.

• Effectively resolve patron misunderstandings or complaints.

• Comfortably use technology.
• Work productively in a fast-paced team environment without direct supervision.
• Ensure all policies of the Wauconda Area Library are followed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
