University Enterprises, Inc. is seeking a part-time student assistant to support the California Department of Financial Protection & Innovation’s Student Loan Program.

The role provides exposure to a public-sector environment and direct support to the Student Loan Servicing Ombudsperson, helping borrowers navigate repayment options, rights, and protections. The position is part-time, off-campus, non-benefited, with a flexible schedule and a requirement to reside in California for the duration of

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in at least six-semester units or nine quarter units (undergrad) or four-semester/ six quarter units (grad).
• Ability to provide high level customer service to California student loan borrowers.
• Ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing to the public, colleagues, and stakeholders.
• Ability to track and analyze complaints and research options or solutions.

Responsibilities

• Screen and assess student loan borrower inquiries.
• Communicate with borrowers via email, phone, or in person to triage concerns and share resources.
• Assist in coordinating outreach events and developing outreach materials.
• Support tracking of complaint data and help maintain program reports.
• Prepare and generate forms, reports, and documents.
• Develop documents for program and administrative purposes.
• Coordinate with staff across programs to support shared initiatives.
• Conduct research related to state laws, HEA, and related statutes.
• Performs other tasks aligned with project goals.
