Job summary

City of Oxnard is seeking a highly technical Senior Manager, Networking and System Engineering to architect, build, and maintain the backbone of the City's IT infrastructure. Reporting to the Deputy CIO, you will lead the engineering team responsible for the network fabric, virtualization stack, and core computing environment.

This role emphasizes operational excellence, high availability, and seamless connectivity across City departments, with you as the technical authority on switching,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/IS or related field.
• Five years of progressively responsible IT experience, including supervisory responsibilities.
• Experience with CJIS security requirements preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Architect and manage the City’s networking and virtualization stack.
• Lead multi-vendor network infrastructure (Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, SonicWall).
• Oversee edge, data center, and public safety networks for high availability.
• Ensure CJIS compliance and security controls with Security team and auditors.
• Manage VMware environment, storage, and disaster recovery planning.
• Oversee backups and data integrity with Veeam and MOVEit.
• Drive uptime, performance, and incident response across departments.
