The City of Oxnard is seeking an Integration Engineer to join our IT team. You will design and implement integrations across vendor applications, ensuring secure data exchange between systems, and coordinating with business stakeholders, IT leadership, and third‑party vendors.

You will help bridge legacy and modern solutions, architecting workflows, middleware, and APIs, while enforcing security and regulatory compliance across public safety, utilities, and administrative departments.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience integrating vendor applications across multiple city systems.
• Experience building secure, scalable data exchange workflows.
• Familiarity with CJIS or government data regulations is a plus.

The City of Oxnard is seeking a highly skilled and versatile Integration Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role is responsible for integrating vendor applications and automating workflows across the city’s various applications and services, ensuring smooth data exchange between systems. You will work closely with business stakeholders, IT leadership, and third-party vendors to build scalable, secure, and efficient integration solutions. The role is essential in bridging gaps between vendor solutions, legacy systems, and a mixture of on‑prem and cloud‑based services to improve operational efficiency across public safety, utilities, and administrative departments. Therefore, the ideal candidate will have strong API integration experience, an automation‑first mindset, and the ability to work with vendors to ensure secure, scalable, and efficient data exchanges.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

• Work closely with business stakeholders and other developers to gather, document, and analyze integration needs
  across departments.

• Become subject matter expert on vendor technologies by working closely with vendor support and in‑house staff
  to troubleshoot and resolve issues.

• Research, evaluate, and recommend software tools, platforms, and third‑party solutions to meet business and
  technical requirements.

• Build or maintain custom application solutions to facilitate secure data transfer between various departments and
  teams within the city’s agencies.

• Architect and document the technical solutions for new and existing integrations, translating application needs
  into actionable infrastructure requests (e.g., servers, databases, allocations) for submission to the Change Advisory
  Board (CAB) and infrastructure teams.

• Ensure seamless integration between legacy systems and new applications via middleware, API gateways, or ETLpipelines using Python, SQL, PHP, and other relevant technologies.

• Ensure integrations comply with CJIS and other government regulations to protect sensitive public data.

• Architect, develop, and maintain API integrations between city systems, vendor applications, and legacy databases.

• Translate business needs into technical integration workflows, including design, planning, and execution of generated action items.

• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize application performance and scalability, identifying and addressing bottlenecks and performance issues.

• Implement security best practices to protect against common web application vulnerabilities, such as SQL injection, cross‑site scripting (XSS), and cross‑site request forgery (CSRF).
