The State of Vermont, through the Agency of Education, seeks a mission-driven Financial Manager I to oversee budgeting and grant accounting in support of Vermont's schools and communities. You will monitor expenditures, prepare monthly statements, and ensure timely grant payments and accurate reconciliations across programs.

You will lead financial reporting, strengthen internal controls, and collaborate with program teams and federal partners to ensure compliant and timely funding.

Formación

• For some positions, strong accounting knowledge, governmental budgeting, and fiscal compliance are required.
• Grant accounting and grant payment experience is preferred.
• Familiarity with cost allocation, financial reporting, and internal controls.

Responsabilidades

• Support budget development for Agency divisions and major education programs.
• Manage grant accounting activities, including tracking expenditures and grant payments to districts and partners.
• Prepare monthly financial statements, internal reports, and program-level reconciliations.
• Maintain and improve internal financial controls within the Business Office.
• Oversee or perform advanced accounting work, including posting and reconciling transactions.
• Support federal grant administration by providing fiscal guidance and reports.
• Collaborate with program teams, state partners, and federal agencies on compliance.

Bachelor's degree in accounting

Bachelor's degree with 20 accounting credits

One year as Financial Administrator III with the State of Vermont
