Job summary

The Vermont Association for the Education of Young Children (VTAEYC) seeks a Director of Finance and Grants to lead financial operations and grant management for a $9M budget. You will oversee accounting, reporting, and internal controls while partnering with leadership to guide decisions.

This role supervises the finance and grants team, ensures GAAP and funder compliance, and coordinates budgets, forecasts, audits, and grant invoicing to support high-quality nonprofit programs across Vermont.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, accounting, finance, or business administration.
• Minimum 5 years of financial leadership experience in nonprofit finance or grants.
• Experience with private and government grants and grant reporting.
• Proficiency with Google & Microsoft Office; familiarity with grants management systems (Zengine, Fluxx).

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic financial leadership and partner with leadership on financial health.
• Oversee finance and grants staff, ensuring accuracy and accountability.
• Prepare quarterly financial reports for the board and finance committee.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, Uniform Guidance, and grant requirements.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
• Coordinate annual audits and tax filings.
