Job summary

The City of Fredericksburg, Virginia is seeking a Geographic Information System (GIS) Analyst to maintain geospatial data, produce GIS products, and support city operations for staff, public safety, and the community. Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Cartography, Geography, Landscape Ecology, Natural Resources, Computer Science, or related field
• Two years of professional GIS experience involving data management, map production, and spatial analysis
• Equivalent education and experience considered
• Valid Commonwealth of Virginia Driver's License
• Ability to pass a Police background check and obtain CJIS Certification

Responsibilities

• Maintain geospatial data, produce high-quality GIS products, and ensure GIS systems are accurate and reliable for staff, public safety, and the community
• Support citywide operations by developing maps and apps for diverse users and providing training and support to GIS users
• Troubleshoot GIS systems, script workflows, and leverage ESRI applications to ensure reliable performance
• Collaborate across departments and communicate GIS principles, including fieldwork when needed
