Job summary

OpenAI is seeking an Applied AI Architect for Government in Washington, DC. You will be the senior technical owner for a named portfolio and translate mission priorities into a focused use-case portfolio and adoption roadmap.

You will lead technical strategy across OpenAI's products — ChatGPT Enterprise, API, Codex — and guide customers from pre-sales discovery through deployment, ensuring security, governance, and measurable mission impact.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in customer-facing technical roles.
• Proven ability to lead technical account plans.
• Experience guiding public sector AI adoption.
• Strong knowledge of security, governance, and government procurement.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary technical advisor and long-term relationship owner for a named portfolio of public sector customers.
• Own the technical account plan, milestones, adoption priorities, and expansion opportunities.
• Lead discovery with agency leaders, mission owners, executives, and technical teams to identify use cases tied to mission outcomes.
• Develop applied AI architectures spanning models, data, integration, security, governance, evaluation, and deployment.
• Guide customers through evaluations, workshops, prototypes, and proofs of value, building confidence in production path.
• Navigate security, compliance, governance, and deployment requirements for AI adoption in the public sector.
• Maintain a focused use-case portfolio with ownership, blockers, and adoption plans.
• Develop trusted relationships with CIOs, CTOs, CISOs, and other stakeholders.
• Coordinate support from deployment, security, product, and partners.
