The County of Santa Barbara is seeking qualified candidates for Accountant I/II in multiple departments, including the Sheriff’s Office and Probation Department. This list may fill current and future full-time and part-time vacancies across Santa Barbara County.

Under supervision, accountants perform professional duties such as examining, reconciling, and maintaining financial records, and assist with budgets, grants, and financial reports.

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field, OR an AA in accounting with two years of paraprofessional experience.
• Knowledge of accounting principles and GAAP; ability to perform budget and financial analysis.
• Proficiency with spreadsheets and basic data processing tools.

Responsabilidades

• Participates in budgeting, budget controls, and grant budget preparation and review.
• Prepares detailed accounting statements and reports; coordinates with auditors and IT staff.
• Reviews contracts and grants for financial soundness and compliance with policies.
• Collects data on costs and assists in setting rates and fees; supports new systems implementation.
