Job summary

Rowan-Salisbury School System is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead daily accounting operations, including purchasing, accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, fixed assets, cash management, and investments. The role reports to the Executive Director of Finance and requires strong internal controls and compliance with GASB standards.

The position supervises accounting staff, coordinates audits, and supports district financial reporting and budget processes within NC school finance

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
• Five to seven years of progressively responsible accounting experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Supervisory experience preferred.
• Experience in governmental or public-school accounting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily accounting operations and ensure accuracy, proper coding, supporting documentation, and compliance with district procedures.
• Oversee purchasing, accounts payable, and accounts receivable; review purchase requests and payment documentation.
• Coordinate the annual audit with independent auditors and maintain internal accounting controls.
• Supervise, train, and evaluate accounting staff; provide training and financial guidance to district personnel.
• Maintain vendor records, assist with system setup, and support financial reporting.
• Prepare financial analyses and reports for the Executive Director of Finance and Chief Financial Officer.
