Job summary

The Public Services Training Facility Coordinator position at Haywood Community College will coordinate classroom schedules, manage the burn building use, and ensure compliance with internal procedures and external regulations. It also covers maintenance, safety oversight, and scheduling for PSTF facilities.

The role requires strong communication, hands-on facility management, and the ability to work a flexible schedule including mornings, late afternoons, and some weekends as training demands.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current credential in Fire, Law, or EMS.
• 5+ years’ experience in a public safety field.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Valid NC Driver’s License and satisfactory motor vehicle report.
• Ability to use hand tools and general building maintenance knowledge.
• Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate classroom schedules and burn building use.
• Ensure compliance with internal procedures and external regulations.
• Oversee maintenance and development for PSTF facilities and training spaces.
• Deliver instruction in provided area of expertise when time allows.
• Maintain master schedules for classrooms and Fire Training Complex.
• Facilitate weekly meetings with area coordinators to prevent scheduling conflicts.
• Lead safety oversight and audits for PSTF operations.
