Job summary

The Buncombe County Public Safety Training Center is seeking a Public Safety Training Facility Technician to perform technical work and support for training programs. The role requires ensuring ongoing compliance with safety and environmental regulations and maintaining facility equipment and grounds.

Minimum education includes a high school diploma or GED with at least two years of related EMS, Fire, Emergency Management, or Law Enforcement experience.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of two years progressively increasing experience in EMS, Fire, Emergency Management or Law Enforcement; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Possession of NC certificates such as Fire Instructor, Law Enforcement Instructor, EMS Instructor, or Emergency Management Instructor preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in supporting new and existing training programs.
  • Ensure facility compliance with environmental and safety regulations per NC DEHNR, OSHA, EPA, etc.
  • Assist in preventative maintenance of equipment and check status/condition.
  • Assist in preparing reports and maintaining records.
  • Repair, replace, adjust equipment and components (rotation, alignment, charging/discharging).
  • Perform maintenance and cleaning for upkeep of apparatus, equipment, buildings and grounds.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
