Job summary

The Montana Department of Corrections is seeking a PUBLIC SAFETY TRAINING COORDINATOR in Helena, MT to lead and deliver curriculum for basic, in-service, and advanced professional trainings across DOC facilities and external partners. You will collaborate with Trainers, Management, and the DOC Training Manager to ensure consistent training aligned with the DOC Training Plan.

Ideal candidates have education in Criminal Justice or related field and experience in course instruction or advanced

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Education, Human Resources, Public Administration or related field related to corrections or training.
• Prior course instruction experience or Instructor Development certification may exempt degree requirement.
• Experience with Field Training Officer (FTO) programs preferred.
• Probation, law enforcement, or detention background highly valued.

Responsibilities

• Train Corrections staff across basic, in-service and advanced courses.
• Collaborate with fellow instructors to implement the DOC Training Plan.
• Develop, coordinate and deliver curriculum consistent across facilities.
• Engage external partners (Judges, Youth Courts, tribal agencies, detention centers, prisons, and law enforcement).
