Job summary

Metacomet Emergency Communications Center in Norfolk, MA is hiring a full-time Public Safety Telecommunicator II to handle 911 and non-emergency calls, dispatch police, fire, and EMS, and operate multiple public safety systems. The role requires completing PST II within MECC’s training program and advancing across operational disciplines.

Candidates must meet background checks and maintain calm, accurate documentation under pressure. This is a 24/7 shift role with overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to receive 911 and non-emergency calls with accuracy.
• Must complete PST II training and certification in two MECC disciplines within 2 months.
• Pass state, FBI, and MECC background investigations.

Responsibilities

• Receive emergency and non-emergency calls and determine appropriate responses.
• Dispatch police, fire, and EMS resources per MECC policies.
• Maintain detailed records of calls and unit statuses using CAD.
• Provide EMD pre-arrival instructions when needed.
• Operate radios, telephones, alarm panels, and surveillance systems.
