Job description

This role is remote from anywhere in the US.

For over 25 years, NEOGOV has been at the forefront of public‑sector innovation, building technology that helps government and education organizations work smarter, move faster, and better serve their communities.

We are a team of cutting‑edge technologists, operators, and problem‑solvers with top‑tier skills and a shared ambition: to build the most efficient operating model in GovTech. We combine deep public‑sector expertise with modern SaaS practices, AI‑enabled workflows, and a relentless focus on execution.

At our core, we are a people‑first company. We empower our customers to support the public servants they employ, the communities they serve, and the talented teams that bring our platform to life.

Our solutions support the entire employee journey, from hire to retire. By transforming complex HR and compliance workflows into simple, intuitive experiences, we help public‑sector organizations reduce friction, improve efficiency, and focus on what matters most: making a difference.

As part of this mission, we are launching a new Asset and Inventory Management product designed specifically for public safety teams.

About the Role

We are hiring a Public Safety Asset & Inventory Management Subject Matter Expert (SME) to serve as the embedded operational authority for this new product.

This role brings direct, hands‑on experience from public safety agency operations (law enforcement, fire, EMS) and logistics into every phase of product development and launch. You will represent how equipment, inventory, facilities, and fleets are requisitioned, assigned, maintained, inspected, audited, and decommissioned within city, county, and state public safety entities.

From early discovery through general availability and customer rollout, you will work as a core member of the product team—shaping workflows, validating assumptions, and ensuring the solution aligns with real operational, procedural, and compliance requirements.

Following launch, this role expands to support go‑to‑market execution as the product’s primary Sales Engineer and Implementation Consultant, serving as NEOGOV’s most hands‑on expert in public safety asset operations.

This posting is for an existing vacancy.

Product Discovery & Validation
  • Serve as the embedded public safety asset management, quartermaster, and logistics SME throughout discovery, design, and build phases.
  • Translate real‑world asset lifecycles—including intake, assignment, maintenance, inspection, expiration tracking, and disposition—into clear product requirements and constraints.
  • Advise on asset lifecycles across inventory (Quartermaster), facilities, fleet, and regulated equipment/gear.
  • Participate directly in customer interviews, workflow walkthroughs, and usability testing with public safety personnel.
  • Act as the primary product tester, validating end‑to‑end scenarios across Quartermasters, fleet/facility managers, supervisors, and field personnel.
Product Build & Launch
  • Partner closely with Product, Design, and Engineering to ensure the tool reflects real‑world public safety operations—not theoretical or vendor‑driven models.
  • Review and refine workflows related to:
    • Equipment assignments
    • Quartermaster inventory, automated alerts
    • Hardware integrations
    • Expirations, regulated items, audit trails, and compliance reporting
  • Ensure alignment with public safety requirements around accountability, operational readiness, chain of custody, and auditability.
  • Contribute to in‑product guidance, templates, and best‑practice defaults grounded in operational experience.
Go‑to‑Market, Sales & Implementation
  • Serve as the product’s primary Sales Engineer, supporting demos and customer conversations with deep operational credibility.
  • Translate customer operational scenarios into clear product narratives grounded in public safety asset and inventory realities.
  • Lead early customer implementations, including configuration guidance, hardware setup/integration advice, training, and rollout support.
  • Act as a key feedback conduit between customers and the product team, identifying recurring patterns and opportunities for improvement.
  • A seasoned public safety operations, quartermaster, logistics, or asset management practitioner with deep exposure to equipment lifecycle management in law enforcement or fire/rescue environments.
  • Experienced in managing both high‑volume inventory items and complex asset categories (fleet, facilities, regulated gear) involving field staff, command leadership, and compliance auditors.
  • Comfortable applying professional judgment to operational challenges and advising on practical, defensible, and audit‑ready approaches.
  • A clear, pragmatic communicator who can translate operational complexity into actionable product guidance.
  • Motivated by building durable systems that improve how public safety teams maintain readiness and operate at scale.

  • Asset maintenance, inspection workflows, or fleet and facility management
  • Expiration tracking, regulated item management, audit trails, or compliance reviews

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience implementing or administering asset management, quartermaster, or inventory software in a public safety environment.
