Job summary

City of Daphne is seeking a Public Safety Dispatcher to respond to emergency and non-emergency calls, dispatch police units, monitor status, and coordinate with emergency service agencies. The role requires professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.

Responsibilities include entering calls into CAD and NCIC/ACJIC, notifying supervisors, handling warrants, monitoring cameras, serving as receptionist, and supporting other divisions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; four months’ experience/training in radio communications or public safety dispatching.
• Experience with CAD and NCIC/ACJIC systems is preferred.
• Strong communication, multitasking and confidentiality skills.
• Ability to work under pressure in emergency situations.

Responsibilities

• Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls and dispatch police units.
• Enter call information into CAD and NCIC/ACJIC systems; ensure accuracy.
• Relay and record updated information to relevant parties to prioritize responses.
• Notify supervisor of emergency and serious incidents.
• Enter new warrants; perform driver’s license checks and retrieve histories as needed.
• Monitor camera system for security of staff, visitors, and detainees.
• Receive and dispatch animal control calls.
• Assist other divisions when not actively responding to a call.
• Serve as receptionist and switchboard operator; manage messages.
• Attend training and/or meetings; perform other related duties.
