Job summary

The State of Oklahoma’s Department of Public Safety seeks a Communications Officer (DPS) to operate radio equipment, dispatch messages, and provide information to law enforcement and the public. This position ensures 24/7 emergency communications, maintains logs, and coordinates with various agencies.

Candidates must be a U.S. citizen with a high school diploma or GED; familiarity with OLETS/NLETS/NCIC and FCC rules is expected. This is a full-time, on-site role with the DPS.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. citizen with a high school diploma or GED.
• Experience in public safety communications is preferred.
• Ability to work rotating shifts and handle emergencies calmly.

Responsibilities

• Operate radio and dispatch messages on an assigned shift.
• Use teletype and computer systems (OLETS/NLETS/NCIC) to obtain information.
• Maintain shift logs and prepare messages for field offices and media.
