Job summary

East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office seeks a Drone as First Responder (DFR) Pilot to monitor 911/CAD activity, deploy drones, and provide real-time intelligence to deputies on scene. The position requires POST certification or eligibility for FAA Part 107 within six months, the ability to work rotating days/nights/holidays, and strong decision-making under pressure.

Training and logs are required, with strict adherence to FAA/agency rules.

Qualifications

• POST certified or eligible for POST certification
• FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot certification or willingness to obtain within six months
• Willing to complete agency UAS/DFR training and pass prerequisites
• Able to work rotating shifts including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
• Ability to operate CAD, 911, radio traffic, mapping platforms and drone systems under pressure
• Strong communication and decision-making under pressure

Responsibilities

• Monitor active 911 calls and CAD activity for potential drone deployments
• Remotely deploy and operate DFR aircraft in response to calls for service
• Provide deputies with real-time intelligence prior to and during arrival on scene
• Locate suspects, vehicles, missing persons, and other objects of interest
• Relay critical information including descriptions, directions, hazards, and scene conditions
• Assist quick-decision operations during pursuits and critical incidents
• Coordinate with RTIC to maintain an operational picture during incidents
• Support pursuits, perimeter operations, searches, and special events
• Maintain FAA compliance and DFR procedures; complete flight logs and training requirements
