Job summary

City of Dothan is seeking a Senior Public Safety UAV Operator to provide airborne support for police operations and enhance officer safety. You will assist in planning deployments, analyze crime data, and aid investigations with drones.

Progression to senior level after training and satisfactory performance is possible. Requires FAA Part 107, LAANC familiarity, flight planning, and data integration for real-time operations.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of FAA regulations and UAS operations.
• Experience with flight software and data analytics.
• Familiarity with airspace structures and LAANC.
• Knowledge of law enforcement principles and GIS tools.
• Ability to maintain records and operate UAV equipment.
• Strong problem-solving and clear communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyze crime information using databases and networks to identify patterns and suspects.
• View and analyze calls, videos, photos, and FAA reports to assist investigations.
• Coordinate with other agencies on ongoing investigations within city jurisdiction.
• Maintain knowledge of laws and standards in crime intelligence technology.
• Enter and retrieve data, answer phones, and prepare correspondence.
• Collaborate with forensic analysts and officers to present digital evidence.
