Qualifications

• One year of experience as a Driver License Examiner Assistant or equivalent (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration).
• Two years of experience obtaining, evaluating, and providing information to the public.
• Active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver’s License and 21 years of age at the time of application.
• Meet PA residency requirements for employment.
• Must pass Fingerprint and Name-Based Criminal History Check prior to employment.

Responsibilities

• Determine driver qualifications and verify vehicle safety conditions before testing.
• Administer written examinations and ensure applicants understand traffic laws and signs.
• Conduct pre-trip, maneuvering, and road tests according to Department standards.
• Examine identity documents for authenticity and identify possible fraud concerns.
• Access databases to confirm identity, eligibility, and document legitimacy.
• Issue licenses, process applications, and explain requirements for various license types.
