The City of Westfield Regional Public Safety Communications Center seeks a Regional Emergency Telecommunications Dispatcher to handle emergency and non-emergency calls for Westfield, Southwick, and South Hadley. You will dispatch Police, Fire and EMS, provide medical instructions, and maintain precise records in a high-stress, 24/7 environment.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED and relevant public safety certifications; prior data entry and computer proficiency are essential.

Qualifications

• Must be able to perform multiple tasks simultaneously (radio, phone, computer).
• Experience with public safety communications and data entry.
• Must maintain calm, professional demeanor under stress and follow protocols.

Responsabilités

• Receives emergency and non-emergency radio and telephone transmissions for three communities; gathers information and prioritizes calls.
• Dispatches and manages deployment of Police, Fire and EMS personnel and vehicles; broadcasts details and coordinates mutual aid.
• Provides emergency medical instructions to callers and relays information to responding units.
• Monitors alarms, maintains accurate records of location and status of units and equipment; informs responders of changes.
• Operates radios and office equipment; retrieves information from CJIS/LEAPS/NCIC and RMV systems.
• Maintains knowledge of jurisdictional authority and departmental policies; adheres to procedures.
