Job summary

City of Madera is hiring Public Safety Dispatchers in California. This position is eligible for the Hiring Bonus Program, with up to $35,000 payable in three installments: $15,000 at hire, $10,000 at year 1, and $10,000 at year 2, contingent on a 3-year commitment.

The Public Safety Dispatcher II is the journey level class, expected to perform full dispatching duties, maintain field communications with public safety personnel, with rotating shifts and possible overtime.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of full time work experience as a Public Safety Dispatcher with a law enforcement or public safety agency.
• A high school diploma or equivalent.
• POST Public Safety Dispatcher Certificate; must obtain California POST certificate within one year of appointment.
• Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Class C California driver’s license.
• Completion of DOJ training for full access operator within three months of appointment.

Responsibilities

• The Public Safety Dispatcher II performs the full range and scope of dispatching duties with minimal supervision.
• Maintain field communications with public safety personnel; work shifts rotate and overtime may be required.
