Job summary

The Madera Police Department is hiring lateral Police Officers in California. This role is eligible for a Hiring Bonus Program, up to $35,000 in three installments.

The organization seeks experienced sworn officers and requires possession of a California POST Basic Certificate and a valid Class C driver's license. The Police Officer I serves as entry level, with the II as senior; promotion follows after probation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years full-time sworn officer experience required.
• POST Basic Certificate required.
• College coursework in criminology or police science desirable.
• Valid Class C California driver's license or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Under general supervision, performs tasks related to protection of public health, safety and welfare and enforcement of laws.
• Provides traffic enforcement and control.
• Carries out special assignments in police work; performs other related duties as required.
• Police Officer I is entry level; Police Officer II is senior level in the series; promotes after probation.

Education

Two years full-time sworn officer experience
